Black & Brown Dental was founded by Christopher Black & Hamish Brown. Christopher graduated from Glasgow Dental School in 2010 and worked in Falkirk for a number of years as a partner in his practice, as well as being a vocational trainer to recently qualified dentists. Christopher and Hamish met in 2017 when Hamish completed his vocational training under Christopher's mentorship, after graduating from Glasgow Dental School in 2017.

After 2 years of searching through 2021 and 2022, Black & Brown Dental made its first acquisition of Oakley Dental Practice in December 2022, a 2 surgery dental practice in the village of Oakley on the outskirts of Dunfermline. Over the following 18 months Oakley Dental Practice went under significant refurbishment and expansion, building an additional surgery and rerfurbishing the existing surgeries. 3 additional dentists have joined the team since the change in ownership and Oakley Dental Practice continues to expand its provision of dental care within Fife, with an ongoing commitment to providing much needed dental care to the local community.

In June 2024, Black & Brown Dental acquired Stirling Dental Care in the heart of Stirling. Stirling Dental Care offers both NHS and Private patient registrations with varying levels of private dental plans, and is supported by 3 dentists and a hygienist working routinely in the practice.

In early 2025 Black & Brown Dental gained access to a retail unit in Pittsburgh retail park in Dunfermline, which would be the site for a brand new 6 surgery dental practice. Over the previous years there has been a significant lack of dental practices offering NHS registrations in Fife. Christopher & Hamish had identified this lack of NHS provision and made it their mission to improve access to essential dental care for as many of the local community as possible.

Our 3rd practice, Black & Brown Dental Care, opened its doors in July 2025 offering NHS and Private registrations. With a total of 8 dentists and a hygienist working in the new practice we have significant capacity for new patients seeking general dental care as well as those looking for cosmetic treatments, hygiene care, and more advanced restorative dentistry.
