What are Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are a modern, discreet way to straighten teeth without the need for fixed metal braces. They are a series of custom-made, transparent moulds that fit snugly over your teeth and gently guide them into a pre agreed position over time.
Each aligner is worn for around 1–2 weeks before moving on to the next one in the series, with small, controlled movements planned in advance. The aligners are removable, which means you can take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss as normal. However they must be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day for them to work.
Clear aligners are suitable for treating many common concerns, including crooked or crowded teeth, spacing issues, and mild bite discrepancies. Because they are nearly invisible when worn, they are a popular option for adults who want to improve their smile without drawing attention during treatment.
What to Expect
Before starting, your dentist will carry out a full assessment, discuss your goals, and create a personalised treatment plan so you know exactly what to expect before you begin.
All of our clear aligner treatment options include tooth whitening; retainers; and minor composite edge bonding, where appropriate, to refine tooth shape and enhance the overall symmetry of your smile. All of this is included at no additional cost.
Your consultation will involve taking photographs of your teeth and an intraoral scan using our digital scanner. These records are sent to our clear aligner provider, who uses them to design a personalised treatment plan.
You’ll then be invited back a few days later to review the proposed plan with your dentist, discuss the expected outcome, and make any final adjustments before your aligners are manufactured.
