What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is on of the most popular cosmetic treatments that we provide at Black & Brown Dental Care in Dunfermline.
Invisalign uses a sequence of clear aligners to move your teeth into a desired position. Clear aligners are a modern, discreet way to straighten teeth without the need for fixed metal braces. They are a series of custom-made, transparent moulds that fit snugly over your teeth and gently guide them into a pre agreed position over time.
Each aligner is worn for around 1–2 weeks before moving on to the next one in the series, with small, controlled movements planned in advance. The aligners are removable, which means you can take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss as normal. However they must be worn for 22 hours a day for them to work.
Invisalign is suitable for treating many common concerns, including crooked or crowded teeth, spacing issues, and mild bite discrepancies. Because they are nearly invisible when worn, they are a popular option for adults who want to improve their smile without drawing attention during treatment.
What to Expect during Invisalign treatment?
You will attend an appointment at our clinic in Dunfermline and one of our experienced clinicians will carry out a full assessment, discuss your goals, and create a personalised treatment plan so you know exactly what to expect before you begin.
All of our Invisalign treatment options include tooth whitening, and retainers at the end of treatment to retain your teeth in the desired position
Your consultation will involve taking photographs of your teeth and an intraoral scan using our digital scanner. These records are sent to Invisalign, who uses them to design a personalised treatment plan.
You’ll then be invited back a few days later to review the proposed plan with your clinician, discuss the expected outcome, and make any final adjustments before your aligners are manufactured.
Should you decide to go ahead with treatment, expect to return for reviews with your dentist every 4-6 weeks to review your progress until treatment is finished.
When you finish treatment, you will need to wear retainers for 22 hours per day for the first 6 months. After this retainers should be worn at night times for life, or for as long as you want your teeth to remain in the desired position.
How much does Invisalign cost?
Invisalign packages start at £3299, however the level of complexity of the case and the amount of correction required will dictate the overall fee. We can give you an exact price after we have developed a treatment plan with Invisalign.
Payment is made by 50% deposit of the total fee upon ordering your aligners; the remainder is paid in instalments across the duration of your treatment.
We also offer finance options on treatment which can be discussed at your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does treatment take?
Most cases take from 3-15 months. Each case is different and it entirely depends on how much correction is required to align the teeth, how many aligners are required, and how well the patient complies with the wear schedule. Aligners need to be worn for a minimum of 22 hours per day; if this is not achieved then this can prolong treatment and teeth can not move as expected. For the treatment to be successful aligners must be worn at all times except for when eating or drinking.
You may feel mild pressure for a few days when switching to a new aligner. This is normal and a sign the treatment is working. It’s generally far more comfortable than traditional braces.
For many adult orthodontic cases, yes. Clear aligners are highly effective for crowding, spacing, and relapse after braces. Very complex bite or jaw issues may require alternative treatments, which we will assess at your consultation.
